President Biden is Expected to Announce an Increase on the Number of Refugees Allowed to the U.S.

President Joe Biden promised during his campaign to increase the number of refugees allowed in the U.S. The current number of refugees allowed to enter the country is at a max of 15,000 for the fiscal year. This is the lowest amount since 1980. Former President Trump set the cap this low while he was in office. President Biden has promised to raise the cap to 125,000 refugees per year, but it will have to wait until the next fiscal year, starting in October 2021. This number of refugees is similar to the number allowed to enter the U.S. under the administrations of President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush.
