Venezuelans get an extension to their TPS

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced an extension and redesignation

for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months for Venezuelan citizens. Mayorkas

reviewed the country’s conditions in Venezuela and decided to extend the program another 18

months. TPS provides temporary protection from deportation to individuals living in the United

States when returning to their home of record is dangerous. This protection only applies to

Venezuelans who arrived in the United States on or before July 31, 2023. TPS applicants must

demonstrate that they are Venezuelan citizens and have been living in the country since July 31,

2023.

Venezuelan citizens who currently do not have TPS may apply for Temporary Protected Status,

Form I-821, and can request a work permit authorization. Approximately 242,700 TPS

beneficiaries from Venezuela and about 472,000 Venezuelan citizens may be eligible under the

redesignation.

If you or anyone you know can apply for TPS, please get in touch with Pikes Peak Immigration to
